POLICE are seeking assistance following a house fire in Sale early Wednesday morning.
Emergency services were called to the Ray St residence about 3.20am after the occupants woke to the front bedroom engulfed in flames.
The fire, which caused extensive damage to the front area of the brick house, was brought under control by local firefighters.
The two occupants, a 39-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man, were transported to Central Gippsland Health Service by road ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
Wellington Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire, which is believed to have been deliberately lit.
An arson chemist was expected to attend the scene on Wednesday.
