GIPPSLAND will play North Gippsland in the Eastern Regional Victorian Netball League open grand final this Friday night.
Gippsland completed an undefeated run through the round robin stage with a 56-27 victory over Mid Gippsland last Friday.
Mid Gippsland was missing some players and had to bring up a player from the 17 and under team.
Mid Gippsland looked strong early, with the teams level 8-8 at quarter-time.
Gippsland put Taylin Gourley to the bench and moved Daisy Hill into goal shooter and Claire Allison into goal attack. Gippsland scored 16 goals to six for the second term.
Gippsland gave Gourley returned to the court for the second half, scoring 23 goals to help Gippsland win by 29.
In other final round open division match, Sale lost to North Gippsland 46-36.
North Gippsland began strong and was sitting comfortably going into the second quarter leading by six goals.
North Gippsland won each quarter, but not by a margin it was able to gain in the first quarter.
GIPPSLAND and Pakenham advanced to the 17 and under grand final after semi-final victories on Friday night.
Gippsland defeated North Gippsland 58-47.
North Gippsland led by four goals after the first quarter.
The Gippsland players were given a firing up at quarter time and it showed on court in the second quarter, they came out and scored 18 goals to nine.
Gippsland pushed the lead out again in the third quarter, but North Gippsland managed to win the fourth quarter, reducing the final margin to 11 goals.
Pakenham overcame a slow start to defeat East Gippsland 60-53.
East Gippsland led by a goal at quarter-time before kicking into gear to lead by two goals at half time.
Pakenham won the second and third quarters, but East Gippsland's Renee Barry carried all the goaling responsibility in the final term, winning the quarter for her team after scoring a massive 18 goals from 22 attempts.
