EIGHT drink drivers were detected in Wellington Shire during an police blitz during the Easter weekend.
The breath-testing blitz is part of Operation Nexus, a state-wide two-week operation that will last until Anzac Day.
Police conducted nearly 3500 preliminary breath tests since Thursday.
More than 50 other offences were also recorded, including unlicensed or unsafe driving.
Police reminded motorists of their responsibility to keep themselves and other road-users safe by ensuring they were not fatigued, distracted, speeding or affected by drugs, and that their vehicles were roadworthy.
Already, there have been two fatalities in Gippsland, after a cyclist was killed in Pakenham on Friday, and a vehicle occupant was killed in a collision on the Princes Freeway near Tynong on Saturday night.
