MAFFRA and Sale marked East Gippsland Hockey Association's women's round at the Cameron Sporting Complex on Saturday.

Fittingly the match of the day took place between the undefeated women teams, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

It was a tightly fought match, with no score in the first half.

Sale took the lead early in the second half through Mel Reibel. Maffra replied soon after with a Caitlin Frisina strike from a penalty corner.

Following the game the two teams got together for an afternoon tea to celebrate women's round.

Wellington's women went down 15-0 to Bairnsdale, and Swan Reach defeated Nagle 5-0.

Sale dominated the open match against Maffra, winning 7-1.

Mark Benfield struck early in the game, but Maffra bounced back soon after via Nathan White.

The stronger Sale team took back control with goals from Matthew Benfield, Andy Pate, Jason Slattery, Scott Smith, Tom Supplitt and Lenny Van der Velden.

Wellington defeated Bairnsdale at home, while Swan Reach defeated Nagle 3-1.
