WELLINGTON Shire Council is seeking feedback from Rosedale and district residents on concept plans that have been developed for the western entrance of Rosedale and Willow Park, as part of the $1.5 million Rosedale Revitalisation project.
The western entrance beautification plan proposes to remove trees between Hood St, west to the Coach Lamp Motel and replace them with a variety of trees that will, over time, provide a significant town entry feature for Rosedale.
Willow Park is an important community open space and RV stopover area that links into the town via a shared pathway.
As part of the upgrades, the construction of a public toilet facility, a new picnic shelter and associated infrastructure, the creation of an open space area around the picnic shelter, revegetation of areas along the Latrobe River and on embankments, significant tree planting of indigenous species, re-sheeting of the shared pathway up to Mill Lane and installing way-finding signs at Willow Park and Mill Lane have all been proposed.
Gippsland MHR Darren Chester encouraged people to view the draft plans and provide feedback to the council.
“Local businesses rely on passing traffic, so it’s important we give travellers even more reason to stop and spend in Rosedale,” Mr Chester said.
“The Willow Park Campground is popular with visitors, but there is currently no infrastructure to support visitors, which reduces their length of stay.
“These upgrades will help Rosedale to create a reputation as an RV-friendly town and encourage more people to stop off on their way to destinations further east.”
Council will host a drop-in session at the Rosedale Neighbourhood House next Wednesday, August 16, from 4pm to 6pm.
People can also have their say on council’s draft Willow Park and Western entrance concept plans by emailing a written submission to email@example.com or writing to ‘Open Space Planner, Rosedale Revitalisation —Willow Park and Western Entrance, Wellington Shire Council, PO Box 506, Sale, VIC 3850’.
The closing date for submissions is 5pm on Friday, September 15.
The concept plans will be on display at the Rosedale Neighbourhood House and Willow Park and Council’s Service Centre in Sale, online at www.wellington.vic.gov.au/rosedalerevitalisation or by phoning council’s open space planner on 1300 366 244.
