THE Maffra Show will be back on Saturday, October 28.

The 129th Maffra Show will have an Australiana theme, with a huge night carnival planned.

A highlight be a pavlova competition, with a $200 cash prize in the amateur category.

Following last year's successful French food court, local winemakers will take part in the Australiana Food and Wine Court.

Equestrian events will run on the Friday, and there will be the full range of livestock classes.

The junior pet parade will allow youngsters to proudly show off their animals.

Last year's floral art section was packed, and will return this year with arts and crafts and all the flowers, fruits and vegetables categories.

The night carnival will feature death-defying motorbike stunts, a mechanical bull and a woodchopping competition.

Always a highlight, the dog high jump will also run on Saturday afternoon.

As part of the Australiana theme, whip cracking, damper making and indigenous painting will also be on the program.

Maffra Show committee president Kath Coggan said there would be lots to see and do.

"Our pavilion entries were up by a thousand or so last year, it was just amazing," she said.

"The support we get from the local community is wonderful.

"The one thing we're really hoping for is a nice day."

People interested in entering should pick up a booklet, visit the show's website, or visit the Facebook page for more information.
