GIPPSLAND South MLA Danny O'Brien has launched a petition calling on the state government to fund the relocation of Federation Training's Fulham campus into Sale.

Mr O'Brien was joined by deputy Nationals leader and shadow minister for training, skills and apprenticeships Steph Ryan to again call on the government to match the Liberal and Nationals Coalition commitment to build a new Federation Training campus at the Port of Sale.

"The Fulham campus is in a dire state and is too far out of town. Under the Labor government we have seen a reduction in enrolments and the removal of courses from the campus," Mr O'Brien said.

"Labor must match the Liberal-Nationals commitment for a new TAFE campus at the Port of Sale.

"Relocating the campus into Sale CBD would rejuvenate enrolments and provide a welcome economic boost for businesses in Sale, while making TAFE more accessible for students.

"It is difficult for students to attend the current campus at Fulham due to its location away from the centre of Sale. That's why in August we committed to meet the community's needs and build a new campus at the old netball courts if elected next year."

Wellington Shire Council, Committee for Wellington and local business groups are all behind the push for a new campus in Sale.

Ms Ryan said Wellington Shire needed better local opportunities for young people and experienced workers to train or retrain and better facilities is critical.

"The Sale community deserves certainty on TAFE services going forward," she Ryan said.

"It's about time Daniel Andrews got on with delivering better outcomes for training in Wellington Shire.

"I call on the Andrews Labor government to step up and match the Liberal and Nationals' commitment for a new campus in Sale as a matter of priority."

The petition is available for signing at Mr O'Brien's office at 54B Cunninghame St Sale and at various local businesses.
