THIS year’s state budget will include an extra $50 million for hospitals and health services as part of the Regional Health Infrastructure Fund.
Specific projects will be announced “in the coming months” according to a press release.
Central Gippsland Health and Yarram Hospital previously received $4 million each from the fund.
Sale Hospital’s surgical services will be boosted, and will include major orthopaedic surgery, and a new integrated health care centre will be built at Yarram.
The Dargo Bush Nursing Centre also received new equipment and a vehicle in round two of the funding.
In total, more than $29 million has been allocated to projects in Gippsland.
Eastern Victoria MLC Harriet Shing said the fund would support doctors and nurses, and increase access to quality care.
