A MAN was rescued by the coast guard after his boat capsized off Port Albert on Sunday.
The man launched his 4.5 metre boat and set out for Snake Island when he was hit by a huge wave about 11.15am.
The boat, which was carrying regulation safety gear on board, was tipped, and sunk.
The man swam about 50m to nearby Drum Island, where he was rescued.
Police said people considering heading out should always consider the weather conditions, and ensure they had the appropriate safety equipment.
Group of 12 stranded near Seaton
POLICE are reminding people to check the weather and drive to conditions, after a group of four-wheel drives and dirt bike riders from the Latrobe Valley were stranded west of Seaton after Saturday’s rough weather conditions.
Police and the State Emergency Service attended to the rescue, after a vehicle slid off the clay track.
One member of the group rode his bike to higher ground to phone police.
No one from the group of 12 was injured.
