MID Gippsland posted its first victory of the season in the 17 and under division of the Eastern Zone Premier Netball Competition on Friday night, defeating a win-less Sale.
Sharp shooting was the order of the night with both Mid Gippsland goalers sharing the responsibility. A clinical approach from Mid Gippsland was never threatened, as it won 64-33.
Gippsland continued its winning ways, showing a mountain of improvement since its disjointed first round display.
Bairnsdale had been consistent to date, but looked unprepared with a disappointing start to the match and didn’t recover, losing 50-39.
North Gippsland had the bye.
THERE was only one open division match, after the Churchill-Traralgon team forfeited to Sale with players unavailable because of the long weekend.
Mid Gippsland defeated Bairnsdale 36-27 in a low scoring match.
IN the final round of the open and 17 and under round robin stage this Friday night, Bairnsdale play rival Sale in both the divisions in Sale.
The other open division match will be a preview to the likely grand final, with Mid Gippsland taking on Churchill-Traralgon.
In the remaining 17 and under match, Gippsland and North Gippsland will meet.
Both 17 and under matches will determine the final placings.
THE finals of the 15 and under division begin next Monday.
In the semi-finals, favourite Sale Black will meet Sale Red, while Bairnsdale will play Gippsland Red.
