Coal Seam Gas Wellington Awareness Group is urging people interested in the coal seam gas issue to attend tonight’s Wellington Shire Council meeting.
Councillors will discuss coal seam gas at the council meeting which will begin 6pm in the Wellington room of the council building.
The CSG group has also been seeking responses from council’s 14 candidates regarding their stance on coal seam gas mining, but said it had been largely unsuccessful.
“Due to limited responses received from council candidates in the recent CSG quiz, the CSG Wellington Awareness Group is unable to provide a voting preference list based on candidates’ dedication to assuring a CSG-free Wellington Shire,” the group said in a statement.
“Several council candidates were reluctant to comment on questions presented, and indicated that more information was required before a decision could be made on the subject.”
