BECAUSE of ideal weather, Wellington Shire Council has extended this year’s outdoor pools swim season in Yarram, Heyfield, Sale, Maffra and Stratford.
All outdoor pools were due to close this Saturday, March 16, but will now remain open for another week. If the weather remains fine, it may enable council to open the pools for a further week.
Mayor Scott Rossetti was delighted that residents could enjoy more time in the water to cool off after what’s had been a long, hot summer.
“We’re enjoying an Indian summer, it makes sense that our outdoor pools remain open for business a little longer so that all residents can make the most of the weather,” he said.
“Our outdoor pools have certainly been very popular this swim season; we’ve seen residents come out in droves to experience Wellington’s fantastic facilities.”
Rosedale outdoor pool will close as planned after this Saturday in order that works commence on the $835,000 upgrade project, with the intention that the all new Rosedale outdoor pool is ready for action at the start of the 2013/14 summer swim season.
