STUDENTS at Gippsland Grammar and Sale College were given a unique opportunity to meet and speak with judges and legal practitioners about the law and legal system in Victoria this week with the Victorian Law Foundation launching a new schools program.
Classroom law talks aim to improve opportunities for rural VCE legal studies students, who are disadvantaged due to their distance from Victoria’s major courts and legal institutions, to connect with the legal sector.
Deputy Premier Peter Ryan opened the program on Wednesday, with Magistrate Clive Allsop conducting workshops at Sale Magistrates Court on Thursday as part of the program, which also included students from Yarram Secondary College, Bairnsdale Secondary College, Nagle College Bairnsdale, Traralgon College and Lavalla Catholic College Traralgon.
