Follow the footsteps

MAD Hatters are coming to Wellington, with a big tea party to be held in Sale Mall on Saturday, May 17.

During May, Wellington Shire Council will support a variety of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ events.

The “Alice Project” aims to encourage dance, movement and social interaction.

Wellington Shire libraries will have special story times and fun from Monday to Friday, while on Saturday, May 17 from 10am to noon the Sale Pedestrian Mall will come alive with Mad Hatters Darren McCubbin and Mat Cummins and Alice in Wonderland Mikkayla Mossop dancing, singing, and playing games with anyone who would like to participate.

All ages and abilities will be catered for.

Follow the footsteps in the Sale Mall to find your way to this “Very Unbirthday” party.

Students from Cobains Primary School, Kath Foley Kindergarten and Yarram Secondary College will have cakes, slices and cupcakes for sale, with all proceeds going to the schools.

St Mary’s Primary School, Sale will sell fairy floss and popcorn, tea party style. Longford Primary School will make Devonshire teas and coffee and the Country Women’s Association of Sale will hold a sausage sizzle.

There’s a little something for everyone and a great opportunity to support local schools.

The event will also feature a wide range of activities including flash mob dancing and Mad Hatter hat making with Gippsland Art Gallery staff, while there will also be a fun bus.

There will be free loom band making and also colouring in competitions with the Gippsland Centre Sale. Gippsland Grammar senior students will also be there to play music on the day and the Pop Up Piano will also make an appearance.
