Flying the flag

A FLAG raising ceremony was held at Central Gippsland Health Service on Monday to celebrate NAIDOC Week.

More than 40 people attended, many walking from Ramahyuck Aboriginal Centre following celebrations there.

CGHS Koori Liaison Officer Sandra Neilson conducted the Welcome to Country. Jodie Douthat then spoke on behalf of the Aboriginal community about the significance of the day.

Ms Douthat explained this year’s theme of ‘Serving Country Centenary and Beyond’, outlining the contribution Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have made in defence of our country.

Director of Nursing and Clinical Support Services Denise McInnes spoke on behalf of CGHS.

The two new Aboriginal Trainees at CGHS, Shontel Bulleen and Tyler Tilley, raised the Australian and Aboriginal Flag.
