A FINAL minor flood warning is now in place for the Mitchell River.
Since 9am Sunday no significant rainfall was been recorded in the Mitchell River catchment with no significant rainfall forecast for the remainder of Monday.
The Wonnangatta River at Waterford is below the minor flood level (3.5m). No further flooding is expected.
High stream levels will continue around and downstream of Waterford during Monday.
The Mitchell River at Glenaladale fell below the minor flood level (3m) Saturday evening. No further stream rises are expected, however, high stream levels will persist at this location for the remainder of the long weekend.
The Mitchell River at Rosehill peaked around 8.1m during Friday evening. The Mitchell River at Bairnsdale peaked around 6.25m (moderate flood level 5.5m) around midnight Friday.
No current height data is available for this location, however, it is expected that the river fell below the minor flood level overnight Sunday into Monday.
High stream levels are expected to persist around and downstream of Bairnsdale for the remainder of Monday.
River levels may remain high for days and even weeks.
Local roads may be closed and low bridges may remain underwater.
Low lying areas may still be flooded or cut-off by floodwaters.
