THE annual ‘Ride for Mental Health’ began on Tuesday when local cyclists Lance Hunt and Iain Fraser set off from Sale for Lakes Entrance on the first leg of their fundraising initiative.
The duo will ride right across Gippsland, joined by many other riders for combinations of legs of a route which includes Bairnsdale, Lakes Entrance, Orbost, Yarram, Welshpool, Foster, Leongatha, Inverloch, Wonthaggi, Cowes, Koo Wee Rup, Korumburra, Warragul, Moe, Traralgon, Heyfield and Maffra.
Mr Hunt and Mr Fraser began the initiative last year to raise funds for mental health advocacy group Barrier Breakers, raising $10,000 in their initial ride.
This year they have already received sponsorship and contributions approaching that figure and have set their target at $14,000.
