AN estimated $1 million could be injected into the local economy with the Easter 2012 Campervan and Motor Club of Australia rally in Sale.
The event, be held from April 4 to 10 at the Sale Showgrounds, Gippsland Grammar and Sale Greyhound Club, is expected to attract about 2000 participants.
Gippsland South MLA Peter Ryan said the economic stimulus of this event will not be limited to Sale, but would expand across the region as “motorhomers” and “caravaners” travelled to Gippsland from all corners of Australia.
“Based on previous rallies, it is expected attendees will enter the region a week prior to event and continue to explore the region for a week after the event,” he said.
Mr Ryan said the rally would feature a number of satellite activities to ensure other towns in Gippsland directly benefitted from the rally.
He said an associated event, a solos’ rally was being held in Yarram in the week before the rally in Sale.
Mr Ryan said the rally would celebrate the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia’s 26th anniversary and would feature special interest group activities, a poets’ breakfast, seminars, trade stands, market stalls and entertainment.
It is being supported with $10,000 in State Government funding.
