THE completion of $29,000 worth of extensions to the Yarram Men’s Shed has been celebrated.
Gippsland South MLA Peter Ryan joined representatives of Wellington Shire Council and the Men’s Shed on Wednesday, for the celebrations.
Mr Ryan said the upgrades would ensure the shed’s members had up-to-date facilities which would allow for future growth of the program.
“The Yarram Men’s Shed has been operating for nine years and provides the opportunity for local men of all ages to participate in the community,” he said.
“The shed has grown to include more than 30 active members ranging in age from 32 – 94 years old and as a result has outgrown the original shed which was built nine years ago.
“I am pleased to announce that the Victorian Government has provided $28,806 to extend the workshop facilities which will be of great benefit to the members as the Yarram Men’s Shed continues to grow and new members join the program.”
Mr Ryan said the Yarram Men’s Shed provided a safe and friendly place for men to relax and forge new friendships.
“Men are often comfortable in these environments where they can talk about what’s on their mind, learn new skills and forge new friendships,” he said.
