CATHOLIC College Sale students were among those recognised for their resilience, determination and commitment to their community after receiving the Duke of Edinburgh’s award during a ceremony at the school on Wednesday.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a program that invites young Australians aged between 14 and 25 to realise their ambitions and change their world.
Catholic College Sale student Jessica Kearns said the Duke of Edinburgh award gave her confidence and leadership skills.
“I have really enjoyed the adventurous journeys,” she said.
“The first few days were the most challenging for me, but I pushed on and stepped out of my comfort zone.
“At the end of the journey, I felt comfortable and confident.”
To achieve the awards, students had to set goals and challenges for themselves in physical recreation, skill, volunteering and an adventurous journey.
Students from Nagle College in Bairnsdale and Mirboo North Secondary College were also awarded.
