Council refers coastal planning amendment

WELLINGTON Shire Council has referred an amendment to the planning scheme to an panel appointed by the State Government for consideration.

The amendment would continue a ban on inappropriate development outside identified settlement areas along the Wellington coast.

The amendment has angered many property owners who have been unable to build on their land. Many attended last night’s council meeting pleading for fair and just compensation for their land.
