Intruder caught

DETECTIVES have offered their thanks to locals in Yarram who helped catch a would-be burglar earlier this week.

About 6.15am on Monday morning, shortly after her husband had left to begin milking that day, a woman discovered a strange man in her house.

After startling her, the offender fled the property and headed across nearby paddocks on foot. Police were called, and local witnesses were able to show police where the offender had fled to.

With the help of locals, police were able to close in on the offender in a small copse of bushland, and he was arrested shortly after 8am.

Police revealed the man is a 32 year old Sale local, and have since charged him with aggravated burglary, burglary and unlawfully entering a premises. He will face the Sale Magistrate’s Court on the charges in September.
