New minister settles in

STRATFORD’S St Andrew’s Uniting Church has a new Minister, with the Reverend Barbara Strickland moving to town.

The Rev Strickland, who hails from the eastern suburbs of Melbourne and had been waiting for a permanent placing since May last year, said she had become quite used to Gippsland through supply work in the region.

“In 2010 I was doing supply (ministry) in Traralgon and since that time I had been doing supply at Trafalgar, so it was sort of meant to be, coming here,” she said.

“With my supply ministry, which was part time, I spent a bit of time exploring Gippsland, including the Grand Ridge Rd … I have a real appreciation of the varied scenery of Gippsland.

“Both the car and I have become quite used to Gippsland.”

With a particular interest in the arts, the Rev Strickland said she looked forward to meeting members of the Stratford community.

The Rev Strickland said she was looking forward to building on the work of the previous supply minister working with schools in the area.
