THE Princes Highway was closed for an hour, just outside of Rosedale, from 10pm on Tuesday as police and fire crews fought to control a fire that destroyed an early model Nissan Patrol.
According to police, a Rosedale man was on his way home from Morwell after having his car serviced when he noticed smoke coming from the engine and pulled over to the side of the road.
Shortly after the man got out of the vehicle it was engulfed by flames and he called 000.
Nobody was injured during the incident.
Police dismissed any connection between the fire and the car’s recent service.
