Candidate statement – Darren McCubbin

I LOVE this place.

With my wife Jill and our two small girls, we have swam in the Freestone Creek, built sandcastles at Seaspray, become princesses at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival and eaten vanilla slices sitting on Patrobas in Rosedale.

We live in a place of rare beauty, fascinating history; fiercely parochial small towns and rural cities that have everything we need.

It has been an honour to be part of the Wellington Shire Council that fought for funding for a new Regional Sports Assembly which will allow TAFE to expand into Sale.

To watch people build their fitness at our refurbished Aqua Energy, listen to the laughter of children playing in the pool and the lively conversations of the Living Longer, Living Stronger classes.

To walk around Lake Guthridge, throw bread to the birds and trek to our operating Swing Bridge through some of the best wetlands Gippsland has to offer.

To watch quality shows at the Wedge, enjoy the Sale City Band and wander through our unique Gippsland Art Gallery.

To listen to people and help them get a tree replaced, or a fence built or their footpath fixed.

I want to be your councillor because I have a passion for this place.

I like to help people and I believe I have the community and business experience to put vision into action.

I can argue with the best of them and seek positive solutions to your problems.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve the place I love.
