Candidate statement – Steve Boyce

I HAVE lived and worked in Sale for most of my life and have a long history of involvement in the local community including Scouts, Lions, St Mary’s fete and The Good Friday appeal.

I am from a hard working family, who at times have done it tough, so I understand the challenges facing a lot of families in our shire

Working in public transport I am aware of the isolation faced by a lot of residents in our communities.

Council has not advocated enough to Government to fix this.

Communities need better transport connections to Sale, Melbourne, and between communities.

This is not an easy fix.

It takes hard work, passion and an understanding of the issues.

I have that passion and I have the understanding and I am prepared to work for it.

We need councillors who will roll their sleeves up and work with the community to make this shire an even better place to work and raise a family.

Council needs to work with the Memorial Hall committee to maintain and further develop this iconic asset of Wellington.

Council needs to maintain, improve and guarantee the future of the Sale Transfer Station.

This essential community facility cannot be allowed to close.

I will fight to ensure it doesn’t.

There’s a lot to be proud of in Wellington, with great communities and great residents.

With positive leadership and councillors who listen and engage with the community, it can be an even more wonderful place to call home.
