Kayakers safe

A TRIO of kayakers who set off from Bruntons Bridge on the Thompson river on Saturday was forced to spend a night in the wild after they were unable to disembark at their intended destination because a river access point had been closed off to the public.

Search parties were sent out that night and the following morning when friends reported the two men and one woman overdue.

The trio, dressed in basic clothing (the men in board shorts and t-shirts and the woman in a singlet top and shorts) managed to walk to a farm near the Cowwarr Weir Sunday morning, informing family and friends they were safe and well.

Bushwalker airlifted

A BUSHWALKER was airlifted to hospital Saturday morning after falling 30 metres down a cliff between Mt Buggery and Mt Speculation at the Crosscut Saw in the National Alpine Park.
