TWO fishermen found by police near the Port Albert boat ramp Sunday evening, originally thought to be lost after failing to return from their Saturday morning fishing trip, have been questioned in relation to a number of offences.

They were allegedly spotted by local police performing ‘doughnuts’ about 150 metres from the boat ramp after the Police Airwing, fixed wing aircraft, Water Police, local police and local coast guards were called in to conduct a search.

A 33-year-old man from Yarram and a 17-year-old Carrajung boy returned to the boat ramp about 8.45pm, police believing they had also made their way to shore earlier.

The Yarram man, who was operator of the vessel, is expected to be charged on summons with exceeding the prescribed concentration of alcohol after a reading of 0.102 per cent, the unlicensed operation of a vessel, failing to wear a personal flotation device, exceeding the speed limit in a vessel, failing to carry flares and for supplying alcohol to a minor.
