Maffra youth arrested for robbery

A 17-YEAR-OLD Maffra youth has been arrested over a robbery at the Horizon service station and Foodworks, in Powerscourt St, Maffra, just before 7am on Sunday.

Police allege the youth, wearing a balaclava, hoodie, gloves and tracksuit pants, demanded cash from the attendant using a message typed on a mobile phone.

The offender fled the store with the contents of the till without saying a word.

The youth was arrested and charged after police executed a search warrant on his property on Monday.

He will front Sale Children’s Court on the charges sometime in the near future.

MEANWHILE police are calling for witnesses after a thief entered the Sale Cinema midnight Tuesday, forcing their way into the building and through two locked doors to steal $145 worth of coins from the main office.
