Man airlifted to hospital after car accident

A 25-YEAR-OLD Queensland man, visiting family in Victoria for the Christmas holidays, was airlifted to the Alfred Hospital with possible, non life threatening, spinal injuries after an incident on Pound Rd East near Yarram, early Thursday morning.

Police believe the man lost control of his car when he swerved to avoid a kangaroo, crossing over the to the right side of the road and colliding with a cyprus tree.

It took Yarram SES crews two hours to cut the man free, after he was discovered trapped in the car by a cyclist at about 5am.

Police said the man was conscious and talking throughout the ordeal.
