THE family of Stan Hayhurst, so far the only human fatality from the Aberfeldy-Donnely bushfire, has spoken of its devastation of his loss.
The body of the 84-year-old was found in a burnt-out car around 5pm Friday afternoon.
The death is being investigated by the coroner.
The family has released the following statement:
“We cannot begin to convey the sadness and grief at the loss of our beloved father, husband and grandfather Stan Hayhurst.
“He retired to the country and built his own home in Seaton 20 years ago.
“Stan was a quiet man who loved the quiet and relaxed lifestyle of the bush and the country community. He also loved his vintage motorbikes and sitting out the back of his property feeding the birds.
“Stan was much loved and we are devastated by his death.
“We thank you for your concern and interest, but we also request that you allow us and our families’ time to grieve the loss of Stan at this very emotional time.”
