Drink-driving bachelors

A 20-YEAR-old Mooroolbark man was issued with a penalty notice for drink driving Sunday, after attending the Bachelor and Spinster Ball in Heyfield the night before.

Police said the man had used a commercially available breathalyser before getting behind the wheel but was revealed to be well over the legal limit when tested by police.

Police warned of the risks of trusting commercially available breathalysers as they are not calibrated to a certifiable standard.

A 27-year-old man from the Netherlands driving on an international licence also tested over the limit Sunday.

Overall, police said, the crowds at the B&S Ball behaved well.
