THE blue green algae outbreak affecting Hazelwood Pondage in the Latrobe Valley has cleared.
Water testing conducted at Hazelwood Pondage by GDF Suez Hazelwood has shown little sign of the BGA outbreak which has affected the popular waterway for the last two months.
Test results revealed zero detectable algae cell counts at all test sites around the pondage which has resulted in the current status alert being withdrawn.
Accordingly, all BGA warning signs were removed.
Recreational users have been reminded the current five knot speed restriction remained in place for the entire waterway because of low water levels.
GDF Suez Hazelwood’s pondage water-sampling program will continue to monitor water quality for any changes in the BGA situation.
