HEYFIELD police are warning that with increased reports of illegal hunting activities, they will be patrolling and targeting hunters doing the wrong thing.
The warning follows an incident in the Alpine National Park last month where a 26-year-old Yallourn North man was stalking deer in the park near Licola about 5pm on Anzac Day.
The man gun allegedly discharged in the direction of another hunter, narrowly missing him.
The man was interviewed and released pending summons and his firearms were also seized and his licence suspended.
A cow was also recently shot in the Licola area and landholders and recreational park users have reported illegal spotlighting and other gun law breaches.
Police remind hunters their firearms can be seized and their licences suspended if they flout gun laws.
