Loch Sport fire being controlled

A PLANNED burn six kilometres north-east of Loch Sport in the Gippsland Lakes Coastal Park burned beyond the planned area on Wednesday and was being controlled by Department of Environment and Primary Industries and Parks Victoria firefighters.

The fire had burned about 50 hectares and there were 29 personnel supported by one tanker, 10 slip-on units and one bulldozer working on the fire.

The fire burned within an enclosed block of coastal vegetation, bounded by recent planned burns to the north and west, a 2005 planned burn to the east and Lake Reeve to the south.

There were no communities or assets under threat from this fire which crews expected to contain by noon.
