SHAUN McDonagh has been appointed the new chief executive of Advance TAFE.
Board chairman Scott Rossetti said the appointment followed a thorough executive search, which attracted applicants from overseas, interstate and Victoria.
State Minister for Higher Education and Skills Peter Hall has approved the appointment.
Mr Rossetti said from a field of impressive candidates, Mr McDonagh demonstrated substantial skills and experience in achieving business growth objectives.
Mr Rossetti said the board thanked acting chief executive Jane Ponting for her stewardship of Advance TAFE during the challenging period as it moved to new business and training models.
“She has worked tirelessly to support and grow TAFE’s role in the community and we are very grateful for her commitment,” he said.
Ms Ponting, who will continue in the role until Mr McDonagh begins on July 31, took over after Peter Heilbuth resigned in October to become chief executive of South-West TAFE based in Warrnambool.
Mr McDonagh, his wife Jacqui and their two children, have family in the Sale area and will relocate from Brisbane.
Mr McDonagh holds a Master of Marketing Management, Master of Commercial Law, Associate Degree in Law and a Bachelor of Business (Marketing/Management).
