Trio cautioned over Bairnsdale detonations

DETECTIVES from Bairnsdale Crime Investigation Unit have interviewed three 16-year-old boys in relation to a series of home made devices that were detonated in Bairnsdale last week.

The boys were cautioned in relation to criminal damage offences.

The first incident occurred on Thursday, July 25 around 9.45pm, when a home made explosive device was detonated in a letterbox in Moroney St, Bairnsdale. The explosion caused minor damage to the letterbox, but no one was hurt.

The following day, around 10.30pm, two further devices were detonated in the grounds of the West Bairnsdale Primary School. No one was injured as a result of the blast.

The third incident occurred at the same residence in Moroney St where two devices were again detonated in the letterbox, causing minor damage.

Detectives thanked the community for its assistance.
