TWO people had to be rescued from mountainous country near Dargo on Sunday night.
A 29-year-old Melton South woman, a 32-year-old Keilor Downs man and a 25-year-old Sale man became stranded when their four wheel drive vehicle got stuck on a steep section of track.
The female left the group and walked more than five kilometres of steep country before being picked up by a passing motorist on the Bairnsdale-Dargo Rd.
The alarm was raised around 8.30pm.
Police from Briagolong and Stratford located the two males around 11.45pm near Mt Djoandah.
The group was ill-equipped for travel into remote mountain country. Police warned travelers to be prepared with food, water and warm clothing at any time of the year, along with a well-equipped vehicle.
