Final flood warnings for Mitchell, Macalister

FINAL minor flood warnings has been issued the Mitchell and Macalister rivers.

Mitchell River

Since 9am Monday, no significant rainfall has been recorded in the Mitchell River catchment. Rainfall totals of less than 5mm have been forecast for the remainder of Tuesday.

No further flooding is expected along the Mitchell River, however high stream levels will continue for the remainder of Tuesday into Wednesday.

Mitchell River upstream of Glenaladale: The Wonnangatta River at Waterford fell below the minor flood level (3.5m) during Tuesday morning. No further flooding is expected at this location for this event.

Glenaladale: The Mitchell River at Glenaladale is currently peaking below the minor flood level (3m). No flooding is expected at this location for this event.

Bairnsdale: No data is currently available from the Mitchell River at Bairnsdale (Pumphouse), however the river is expected to peak below the minor flood level (4m). No flooding is expected at this location for this event. 

Macalister River

In the 24 hours to 9am Tuesday, rainfall totals of up to 7mm have been recorded in the Macalister River catchment. Rainfall totals of up to 5mm have been forecast for the remainder of Tuesday into Wednesday.

Macalister catchment upstream of Lake Glenmaggie: The Macalister River at Licola fell below the minor flood level (2.7m) during Monday afternoon. No further flooding is expected for this event.

Macalister catchment downstream of Lake Glenmaggie: Southern Rural Water advised that releases from Lake Glenmaggie were below the minor flood flow (7500 ML/day). Releases are expected to remain below the minor flood flow for this event.
