Charge after Sale assault

A 31-YEAR-old Traralgon man has been charged with serious assault after an altercation at Cobb and Co Stables, Sale, 7.15pm Saturday.

The man allegedly struck a 36-year-old Korumburra man, knocking him unconsciousness.

The man was taken to Central Gippsland Health Service, Sale, for observation but was released that night.

Witnesses sought

MAFFRA police are seeking witnesses to a verbal dispute at the Maffra Medical Centre on Monday morning.

Police said two men in their 50s, one in a wheelchair, were situated near the nurse’s station.

In particular, police are looking for two women with prams who were in the centre at the time.

People with information are urged to phone Senior Constable Anthony Dessent at the Maffra police station on 5147 1026.

Glass injury

A 31-year-old Heyfield man was rushed to Sale hospital Saturday night, with deep gashes to his forearm after he put his fist through a window.

He has since been transferred to a Melbourne hospital.

The man allegedly punched the window of Heyfield’s Railway Hotel when he was ejected from the premises for a second time.

He had been caught by staff attempting to sneak back into the building about 9.30pm. The man is likely to be charged with causing criminal damage.

Police believe the man was heavily intoxicated.

Brothers brawl

HEAVILY intoxicated brothers from Heyfield, aged 22 and 17, got into a fist fight at a party in Maffra Saturday night.

The younger brother was taken to Sale hospital,with non life-threatening injuries.

Senior Constable Anthony Dessent of Maffra Police said it was not known who instigated the argument.

“They each gave as good as they got, the younger fellow came off second best,” Senior Constable Dessent said.

Charges have not yet been laid against the men.
