Christmas parade and carnival

CHRISTMAS will come to Sale early, with Longford Lions Club and Sale Business and Tourism Association putting on celebrations for the community tomorrow.

Building on the success of last year’s Christmas parade, Longford Lions Club has put in measures to make this year’s parade bigger and better.

Working in with the association’s clocktower Christmas carnival, the parade will be held half an hour later this year at 10am, while the toy run will arrive half an hour earlier at 11.30am.

More than 25 floats have registered for the parade which will begin at Sale Uniting Church, with trophies for best float, best commercial float, best walking group and most entertaining.

Several clubs will conduct raffles and hold market stalls in Brennan Park from 8am until noon, while barbecue and egg and bacon rolls will be available for breakfast, with fairy floss and icecream for children.

Santa will arrive at about 10.30am, with children’s entertainment at Brennan Park including a jumping castle and Orb balls.

The Sale Business and Tourism Association clocktower Christmas carnival will begin at 11.30am, with deputy premier and Gippsland South MLA Peter Ryan officially opening the clocktower mall at noon.
