Counterfeit notes used

IN three incidents at the weekend counterfeit $20 notes were used at businesses in Rosedale, with the Rosedale Drive Thru and Red Rose Cafe targeted on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Thieves also attempted to spend one of the notes at the Rosedale IGA but the money wasn’t accepted.

Rosedale police are urging store owners in the Wellington shire to be vigilant and double check suspicious looking notes before accepting them as legal tender.

The incidents are being investigated by the Wellington Criminal Investigation Unit and Rosedale police.

People with information are urged to phone Rosedale Police Station on 5199 2222 or Sale Police Station on 5143 5000.
