Sale boy charged over Traralgon assault

POLICE have charged a 16-year-old boy from Sale after a 35-year-old man was assaulted by a number of youths at the intersection of Grey St and Princes Highway, Traralgon around 1.20am Sunday morning.

The victim received a fractured leg and facial injuries and remains in hospital.

Latrobe Crime Investigation Unit detectives are keen to speak to two 16-year-old boys who were seen speaking to the victim prior to the assault.

The first is described as having fair hair and was wearing a red t-shirt, dark pants and runners.

The second teen had scruffy hair, possible dreadlocks with a nose piercing.

He was wearing a cap, grey hooded top, light coloured pants and had a bag with a black shoulder strap.

Meanwhile, detectives are appealing for public assistance in relation to a separate assault in the Traralgon CDB on Sunday morning.

Investigators have been told a 17-year-old male was walking along Post Office Place when he was approached by a man who made demands for his mobile phone just before 1am.

The victim handed over his phone and was then allegedly assaulted by four youths, receiving minor injuries.
