Steer butchered

POLICE are investigating the theft of a steer after a gate to a property on Sawpit Creek Rd, Stratford, was forcibly damaged and a steer was killed and gutted on site.

Between 5pm Monday, March 17, and 9am Tuesday, March 18, offenders used a vehicle to force open a locked gate to a farm.

Investigators believe a Hereford steer was killed on site before the carcass was dragged by a vehicle 100 metres along Sawpit Creek Rd where the beast was gutted.

Thieves took the carcass, but the guts were left on the road.

People with information are urged to phone the Stratford police on 5145 6404 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
