Hunter hurt

A 53-year-old Stratford man was taken to hospital with a serious eye injury following a hunting mishap in bushland east of Dargo about 10am on Saturday.

A bullet shell lodged itself in the man’s eye when he reloaded his firearm, the rifle discharging the shell from the barrel of the gun back into the man’s face.

The man was rushed to hospital at Central Gippsland Health Service, Sale and later transported to Melbourne for eye surgery.
