Miller is soon to be released

A WOODSIDE man who was gaoled in 2012 after running down a cyclist with a stolen car will likely be released soon.

Paul Allan Miller pleaded guilty to negligent driving causing serious injury and failing to render assistance at an accident after crashing into a Sale doctor in October 2009.

Mr Miller was alleged to have attempted to drag the unconscious woman into the car before fleeing the scene.

Cyclist Heather Hunter suffered critical injuries from the incident, including severe brain and spinal injuries.

Miller was sentenced to seven years with a non-parole period of five years, some of that time spent in remand prior to his conviction.

Once a keen dancer, Dr Hunter now requires the use of a wheelchair and has significant ongoing medical problems.
