SALE backed up last week’s win over East Gippsland in the open division, casually accounting for Morwell Indoor in the latest round of Eastern Region State League netball on Friday night.
Such was Sale’s dominance on the way to its 42-30 win, the Morwell side appeared unsure of what moves to make from the bench.
An almost faultless match from Anna McGlade and Jess Hillier saw Mid Gippsland inflict East Gippsland with its second defeat in a row in what was probably the upset of the competition.
North Gippsland Red smashed its younger counterpart North Gippsland Black 77-33. Red’s Sheree Wilson was relentless in defence and set the tone early displaying some stunning aerial work and courage.
THE 17 and under competition saw an absolute nail biter with Sale defeating Mid Gippsland by one goal.
Sale established a four-goal lead heading into the main break but Mid Gippsland soon bounced back lessening the deficit to one goal by the final change. Sale came through with the goods in the dying seconds of the match with an intercept in Mid Gippsland’s forward line which it carefully directed to its goalers who made no mistake and to seal the game 48-47.
North Gippsland defeated Alberton Blue 38-36, while East Gippsland continued on its winning way, easily accounting for Alberton 58-43.
TOMORROW night at the Churchill Leisure Centre, Sale will play Mid Gippsland in the open division and North Gippsland in the 17 and under.
