Lob-sided junior deciders

BOTH Sale-Maffra junior grand finals were decided on Saturday morning with Stratford and Sale City Blue winning the under 16 and 14 titles respectively.

IN the under 16 grand final, Stratford bowled Sale out for 57 in the 36th over and needed just 14 overs to score the winning runs for the loss of just two wickets.

Taylor Tatterson and Jack Jeitschel took three wickets and Patrick Gordon two as Stratford laid the foundation for the victory with the ball. Ben Jones and Jacob Farquhar top-scored for Sale with 10 each.

Opening the batting, Tatterson remained at the crease for the entire chase, finishing on 38.

THE under 14 decider followed a similar pattern with Collegians Blue bowled out for 55 in the 34th over before Sale City Blue scored 1-57 in 13 overs.

Sale City’s opening bowlers Isaac Love and Justin Mitchell did the bulk of the damage during the Collegians’ innings, claiming four and three wickets respectively.

Jesse Collins, with 14, was the only Collegians batsman to reach double figures.
