MAFFRA slipped to fourth place on the Gippsland League A grade netball ladder following a 53-50 loss at home to Wonthaggi.
The Eagles could have moved down to fifth place, but Traralgon drew with Morwell yesterday. The Eagles will take on the Maroons this Saturday.
The Power won the B grade match 43-37, with C grade providing the Eagles’ only senior win of the day, 35-34.
In the under 17s, Maffra won 40-25, with the Power winning the under 15 and 13 matches 44-27 and 33-27 respectively.
SALE continued its run of playing in the rain with all matches at Warragul played in heavy showers.
The Magpies A grade team got away to a flying start to lead 29-13 at half-time with shooters Georgia Andrews and Lara Dunkley on target.
Sale led 44-21 at the final change and went on to win 58-34.
In B grade, Sale fought back from being two goals down at quarter-time to lead 16-12 at half-time. The Magpies kicked away in the second half to win 34-24.
In an even C grade contest, Warragul used the ball better in the second half to win 34-24.
Sale, on top of the under 17 ladder, seemed to get its flow-on game working better in the pouring rain. After scoring 15 goals to one in the first quarter, it went on to win 49-8.
The Magpies’ under 15 team had to work hard to shake off a much-improved Warragul team. They steadied in the second half to win 35-17.
In the under 13s, second-placed Sale got its winning break against the fourth-placed Gulls in the third quarter, setting up a 32-14 victory.
