THE Sale Rangers recorded a win and a loss from the second double header weekend of the Latrobe Valley baseball season.
On Saturday, Sale travelled down the highway to Moe/Newborough and competed in a game packed with defensive highlights.
On a beautiful day for baseball, the Dodgers recorded a hard-fought 5-0 win after scoring four runs in the third inning and another in the fourth. The Dodger infield turned four double plays for the day to help strangle the Sale offence.
Best players for Sale were Brad Taylor, Tom Tudor and Will Hector, who threw seven strong innings.
The Rangers hosted Morwell, who was impressive in its 8-5 loss to Churchill the day before, on Sunday.
After scoring four runs in the first innings, Sale went on to capitalise on the errors made in the second innings, scoring 11 runs in that innings.
Sale had 13 safe hits for the day and went onto win against Morwell, who could only manage two runs to the Rangers’ 25.
Best for Sale were Nathan Massey, Tom Tudor and Brad Taylor.
In the other Sunday game, Traralgon defeated Moe-Newborough.
This Sunday, Sale will travel to Churchill, Morwell will host Traralgon and Moe-Newborough will have the bye.
